Highlights That Hit All the Right Notes

Welcome, current and prospective families and friends! In this edition, we are excited to share a few recent highlights from the Saint Paul’s Choir School community. These moments reflect the faith, creativity, scholarship, and brotherhood that make our school so special. We hope they offer a glimpse into the vibrant experiences that shape student life and inspire our boys to learn, grow, and thrive.

Encore-Worthy Moments

On May 17, it was our joy to welcome everyone to our annual spring concert in Harvard Square. It was a celebration of some of the finest choral repertoire from our 2025-2026 season - with voices that included The Choristers, Pre-Choristers, Music Scholars, and Schola of St. Paul's. Few words carry the impact of Alleluia. At once exclamation, prayer, and song, it insists on being sung and expresses a universal, timeless joy. The program represented the very best of our work this year, but also reflected that spirit: music shaped by centuries of sacred tradition and the enduring power of voices joined in praise.

Soon after, we set our sights to our third performance of Mahler's 3rd Symphony of the season. This one with the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra and Nashoba Valley Chorale at the Groton Hill Music Center. We hope you were present to witness the splendor of their sound!

We celebrated yet another big win for St. Paul Choir School with the Choristers' performance of Carmina Burana at Sanders Theater! It was a special treat to see our very own voice instructor, Wee Kiat Chia, as a soloist, and Director of Music, Brandon Straub, at the piano. Thank you to the Harvard Choruses for their warm welcome and brilliant collaboration.

Twas a Night of Music and Community!

Our annual Family Concert brought together students, faculty, parents, and siblings for an evening filled with music, talent, and community spirit. The program featured a diverse range of performances, from solos to small ensembles, showcasing the hard work and dedication of many students throughout the year, including pieces developed during private lessons.

The concert celebrated not only musical achievement but also the joy of sharing talents with family and friends. It was a wonderful opportunity for members of the Saint Paul's community to come together, support one another, and enjoy an inspiring evening of performances across a variety of musical genres. We are grateful to all who performed and attended, helping make this cherished tradition another memorable success.

Behind The Scenes
with Catholic TV's Crew

One of the highlights of this year was the opportunity to participate in song recordings for CatholicTV’s Fall Telethon. Our students enjoyed a firsthand look at the work that goes into creating a professional television production, from recording sessions to the many details managed behind the scenes by the dedicated CatholicTV crew.

The experience gave students a greater appreciation for the teamwork, talent and commitment required to share messages of faith, hope and inspiration with viewers across the region. It was exciting to see how music can be used as a powerful tool for evangelization and community building.

We are grateful to everyone who welcomed our students and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this special project possible. Their efforts helped create a meaningful experience that our students will remember for years to come.

Stay tuned for more updates from this memorable journey, and please continue to keep CatholicTV’s Fall Telethon in your prayers as it brings hope and encouragement to so many.

Built on Brotherhood: The Capstone Project

What is Capstone?

A capstone project is a culminating assignment that students complete at the end of a course, grade level, or academic program to demonstrate what they have learned. Rather than taking a traditional test, students apply their knowledge and skills to a real-world topic, problem, or interest area. The goal is to showcase not only what students know, but also their ability to plan, research, communicate, and work independently. It's often considered a bridge between middle school and high school—or between high school and college—because it encourages students to take ownership of their learning.

Capstone Project 2026 - Eighth grade students were invited to explore the philosophical question of: “What is fraternity?”

Through research and reflection, students engaged deeply with the idea that we are stronger when we grow together. As they explored the meaning of fraternity, the boys examined historical, philosophical, and faith-based perspectives on community, belonging, and human relationships. While using a variety of sources and analyzing different viewpoints, they developed their own ideas through thesis-driven research papers, learning to support their arguments with evidence while thoughtfully considering the perspectives of others. Their work challenged them to think critically about the role each person plays in creating environments where everyone feels valued, welcomed, and connected. The boys particularly expressed that Saint Paul's is one of their authentic communities that is built through respect, empathy, service, and shared responsibility.

The project culminated in presentations to fellow students, faculty, and parents, giving students the opportunity to share excerpts from their research and reflections. These presentations showcased not only their academic growth but also their ability to communicate complex ideas with confidence and conviction.

We are proud of the thoughtfulness, intellectual curiosity, and courage our students demonstrated throughout this journey. Their work served as a powerful reminder that fraternity is more than a concept—it is a call to build authentic relationships, foster belonging, and care for one another in our school, our communities, and the wider world.

A special thank you to our teachers for their guidance, dedication, and hard work throughout the process, and to everyone who attended and created such a warm and welcoming audience for the boys as they shared their work.

"We won!" Innovation Takes the Spotlight

Exciting news from our 4th Grade ELA class! The students were recognized with the Innovation and Creativity Award as part of a competition that honored five outstanding AI projects across multiple categories.

Students combined poetry, music, and technology by using AI tools to transform poems into original songs. Students recently explored the intersection of creativity and technology by transforming poems into AI-generated songs. After selecting or writing a poem, students used AI tools to create a musical version while making intentional choices about genre, mood, and style.

Along the way, they explored important questions about originality, authorship, ethical technology use, and AI’s impact on society. Rooted in Catholic values, this project encouraged students to celebrate human creativity, practice honesty, and use emerging technologies responsibly.

Congratulations to our talented 4th graders on this well-deserved recognition!
