Welcome to the Parents Guild!

Founded in 1963, St. Paul’s Choir School is a mission-driven school, established to form the faith, character, and intellectual and musical abilities of our boys in grades 3 through 8. The St. Paul Choir School Parent Guild exists to strengthen the community of choir school families. This is accomplished in four ways:

1) by providing volunteer support for choir school events, traditions, Masses, and concerts

2) by raising funds to support need-based scholarships, which provide an opportunity to qualified boys regardless of financial status

3) by serving as an admissions guide for the school with prospective families

4) by providing a forum for information and communication to strengthen the connection of families to the choir school and to each other.

As a small school with a special mission, the guild depends on a strong culture of volunteerism and support from the families of the boys. Parents attend monthly meetings, contribute to fundraising efforts, pay annual guild dues, and provide volunteer support. At the same time, we recognize the different financial, family, and scheduling circumstances within our school community, so our parent ambassadors help families find the best ways to become involved. More information is available in the Guild Manual.

Notable Traditions and Parish Life

Choristers sing at the 11:00am Sunday Mass during the school year, as well as on major feast days, holy days of obligation, concerts, weddings, and funerals, as well as in national and international venues. Boys who do not participate in the choir are trained to prepare the sanctuary for services and assist the presiding priest as altar servers.Pre-choristers sit at the front for Mass which helps them get used to the liturgy.

Concerts and Performances

The annual Christmas and springtime concerts are long-standing traditions that are well-attended by family and friends as well as parishioners, area residents, and students living near Harvard Square. These concerts are wonderful occasions for our boys to sing for the community at large and offer them an opportunity to perform solos and sing with acclaimed vocalists and musicians.

Saint Paul's Daily Rosary

We are a group of SPCS families and friends praying the Rosary every evening and would like to invite you to drop in virtually whenever you are able!  At about 2 years prior to the pandemic, some parents started to meet weekly in the Chapel of the Women Doctors of the Church to pray the Rosary for the well-being of the Choir School, their students, families, faculty and staff.  Immediately, at the very first day of the lockdown in Spring 2020, we went online praying every evening without interruption since.  God IS answering! Please come and join!  Stronger prayer will result in even more blessings!  And the beautiful thing is, these 25 minutes are well spent. It is a source of peace rather than something additional to add to your plate.

You are more than welcome just to try it out.  Hosts are pre-assigned so someone will always be there to lead.
